Corrections News Release Thumbnail The Pasco County Corrections Facility is proud to announce it has again earned accreditation from the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) by demonstrating outstanding compliance with NCCHC’s nationally recognized standards of care for correctional health services in jails around the country.

Pasco County Corrections was first accredited in 2019 and has maintained its commitment to meeting the requirements described in NCCHC’s standards. Reaccreditation recognizes the ongoing commitment by Pasco County Corrections to provide quality health services for the roughly 1,400 inmates in our facility.

“We understand the challenges our correctional professionals face – and greatly appreciate the collaboration between medical and correctional/security staff to ensure inmates receive appropriate care,” says Pasco County Chief Correctional Officer Stacey Jenkins. “We also must highlight the hard work of our team to make this remarkable achievement possible.”

To maintain NCCHC accreditation, Pasco County Corrections underwent a rigorous professional assessment in February 2024 during which a team of experienced physicians and experts in correctional health care surveyed the facility for compliance in many important areas including:

  • Patient Care & Treatment
  • Health Promotion
  • Safety & Disease Prevention
  • Governance/Administration
  • Personnel/Training
  • Special Needs & Services
  • Medical Legal Issues
The facility houses men and women charged or sentenced on misdemeanor and felony crimes – as well as juveniles who have been adjudicated for treatment as adults.

For 45 years, NCCHC’s highly respected standards have provided guidance to help correctional health professionals and administrators improve the health of their incarcerated populations and the communities to which they return, increase efficiency of health services delivery, strengthen organizational effectiveness and reduce the risk of adverse legal judgments.
