All counties in the State of Florida are required by the Legislature to establish and implement a small quantity generator (SQG) notification and verification program in accordance with Section 403.7234, Florida Statutes (FS). The Pasco County SQG Program is managed by the Environmental Compliance section of the Solid Waste department. The goal of the Program is to protect the environment by helping businesses understand and comply with the regulations of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
The Pasco County SQG Program is required to identify and verify all businesses in Pasco County that have the potential to generate hazardous waste and notify them of their legal responsibilities with regards to waste management. The SQG Program is required to inspect at least 20% of identified businesses annually by performing unannounced on-site visits to evaluate waste management practices. The on-site visits include an evaluation of the waste(s) generated along with compliance assistance on the management and disposal requirements.
Pasco County Business Tax Receipts include a $20 fee for standard industrial codes (SIC) that have the potential to generate hazardous waste. If your business does not generate hazardous, please contact Public Infrastructure, Environmental Compliance at 727-847-2411 ext. 2046 to schedule an inspection.
