Workforce Development

What is Pasco County doing to address workforce development and the skills gap?

Manufacturing - AmSkills

AmSkills is a Florida Department of Education Registered Pre-Apprenticeship and Apprenticeship Program for 5 manufacturing occupations. Upon completion of the Registered AmSkills Pre-Apprenticeship program, eligible candidates can become Registered Apprentices while working in a paid job at the manufacturing.

Registered Apprentices are required by law to continue "related training instructions" at a sponsoring agency such as the employer, AmSkills or other vocational training schools. The costs for that training are either paid for by the employer or other funding sources (i.e. CareerSource, PMMI, etc.), therefore allowing the Apprentice to obtain a nationally recognized certification and training with no college debt.

Reemployment - CareerSource

CareerSource Pasco Hernando (CareerSource) is an enterprise sponsored by the Pasco Hernando Workforce Board, Inc. CareerSource serves as the area's One-Stop venue for meeting both employer and employee needs. Programs are in place to help people find careers, including services directed towards veterans and young adults.

Why look for a job when you can train for a career through an Apprenticeship Program? A registered apprenticeship is an employer-driven, on-the-job educational workforce training program that connects job seekers looking to learn new skills and enhance career opportunities with employers looking to create a pipeline of highly skilled individuals for their workforce.
