CORRECTION NOTICE

Correct Public Hearing Date for Solid Waste and Non-Ad Valorem Final Assessment Rates is September 15, 2021 at 9:00am at the Historic Courthouse in Dade City, FL

Recently, annual TRIM (Truth in Millage) Notices were sent which included inserts relaying information on the public hearing for the final non-ad valorem assessment rates for Solid Waste and the Quail Hollow Municipal Service Benefit Unit (MSBU).  While the TRIM lists this date correctly, the inserts erroneously state the date of the public hearing as September 13, 2021.  The CORRECT DATE, TIME, AND PLACE for the public hearing for the final assessment rates for Solid Waste, Quail Hollow MSBU, Williamsburg West Municipal Benefit Taxing Unit (MSTU), and Fox Ridge (MSBU) is September 15, 2021, 9:00 a.m., at the Historic Courthouse, 37918 Meridian Avenue, Dade City, FL  33525

How the ERU is Calculated

A single family residence or stand-alone mobile home is assessed one ERU (Equivalent Residential Unit) yearly for solid waste which is equal to 1.0961 Tons allowed and equates to a dollar assessment of $86.00 per unit on the 2021 Property Tax Bill.

A condo with common elements (sharing common area) is assessed 77% of one ERU yearly for solid waste which is equal to .84 Tons and equates to a dollar assessment of $72.24 per unit on the 2021 Property Tax Bill.

A condo, apartment, or mobile home in a park is assessed 75% of one ERU yearly for solid waste which is equal to .82 Tons and equates to a dollar assessment of $64.50 per unit on the 2021 Property Tax Bill.

An RV in a mobile home/RV park is assessed 20% of one ERU yearly for solid waste which is equal to .22 Tons and equates to a dollar assessment of $17.20 per unit on the 2021 Property Tax Bill.

REFERENCE: Notice of Public Hearing for the Annual Solid Waste Disposal Assessment

Dear Property Owner(s): 

All persons are hereby notified that the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) will consider adopting a resolution authorizing an increase in the Annual Solid Waste Disposal Assessments, Tipping Fees, and Other Rates, Fees, and Charges at a PUBLIC HEARING on September 15, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. at the Historic Courthouse, Board Room, 2nd Floor,  37918 Meridian Avenue, Dade City, FL.  

The proposed resolution establishes the annual solid waste disposal assessment, tipping fees, and other rates, fees and charges that fund the Solid Waste Disposal and Resource Recovery System in accordance with the provisions of the Pasco County Code of Ordinances, Chapter 90, Article III.  The purpose of the assessment is to generate sufficient revenue to cover operations and maintenance costs, meet debt service coverage as required by bond covenants, and support the capital costs of the County’s solid waste disposal system.  The FY 2022 single-family residential assessment will increase from $79.00 to $86.00 per Equivalent Residential Unit (ERU), generating approximately $19,442,729.00 in revenue.   Each single family parcel is equal to one ERU. Tipping fees will increase from $72.08 to $78.47 per ton.

All property owners within the county have the right to appear at the hearing and have the right to file written objections within 20 days of this notice. Written objections should be sent to:  Public Infrastructure Fiscal and Business Administration Department, Attn: Solid Waste Assessment, 19420 Central Blvd, Land O Lakes, FL 34637 and must be received no later than 5:00 pm on September 10, 2021Public Comment will be available via attending the meeting in person or through WebEx or e-mail.  Persons who want to participate in this HYBRID PUBLIC HEARING should consult the County’s website at PascoCountyFL.net for the latest information on how to participate in the hearing.

This notice complies with section 197.3632, Florida Statutes.
