The Pasco County Earth Day Celebration was held on April 24, 2021, at Crews Lake Wilderness Park. There was a wonderful turnout with approximately 750 people in attendance. There were 21 educational and eco-friendly vendors such as Owl’s Nest Sanctuary for Wildlife, the Nature Coast Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society, and the Energy Marine Center.
Environmental Compliance had 76 people that participated in the household hazardous waste collection. Items collected include 59 lightbulbs, 240 pounds of batteries, 15 gallons of oil, 35 gallons of gas, and 3,260 pounds of paint. There was 286 pounds of household hazardous waste diverted from the Energy from Waste facility. An additional 104 pounds was sent to Habitat for Humanity for local reuse in the community.
This event is a partnership between Pasco County Department of Public Works, Keep Pasco Beautiful, Covanta Pasco, Pasco County Solid Waste, Pasco County Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources, and UF/IFAS Pasco County Cooperative Extension.
