This site features historically significant fire rings from its days as a former Boy Scouts of America camping ground. The site provides preservation of ecologically sensitive habitats including coastal hammock, salt marshes, and mangrove swamps. These natural communities provide habitat for a diversity of listed species including roseate spoonbill, white ibis, and reddish egret. Boy Scout Preserve, along with Pasco County’s other coastal preserves, also helps to mitigate storm surge, control floodwater, and reduce erosion during storm events. The preserve features a picnic shelter and 0.3 miles of hiking trails.
