MPO Updates 2019

MPO Chairman Jeff Starkey

We welcome our new MPO Chairman, Jeff Starkey of New Port RIchey, FL.

Councilman Starkey currently serves as the owner of Great Florida Insurance, and is a Pasco County MPO board member. He is a current and past board member of the National Association of Insurance Agents and Financial Advisors. He also served as President of the Local Chapter of Business Networking Group (BNI). Councilman Starkey is a huge advocate for Economic Development for the City of New Port Richey. The MPO staff is excited to announce that Councilman Starkey was elected to MPO chair on 1/17/19.

MPO Vice Chairman Lance Smith

We welcome our new MPO Vice Chairman, Lance Smith of Zephyrhills, FL.

​Councilman Smith currently holds an active real estate broker’s license and in 2003 he became a licensed contractor and formed a construction company. Smith has managed the development of over 400 lots, constructed over 50 residential units, and built over 25,000 square feet of commercial space in the Zephyrhills area. Smith is currently self-employed and works in real estate development, construction and sales. Councilman Smith is active and had served on many community boards and civic organizations which include Pasco MPO, Zephyrhills City Council, and Pasco County Planning Commission just to name a few organizations he has participated in. The MPO staff is excited to announce that Councilman Smith was elected to MPO vice chair on 1/17/19.

CAC Chairman Jose Cardenas

We welcome our new Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) Chairman, Jose Cardenas of New Port Richey, FL.

Mr. Cardenas is the owner of Jose Cardenas LLC a Design and Home Renovation firm; He also serves as a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Homes Services Florida Properties Group. He volunteered as the Chairman of the Design Committee of the New Port Richey Main Street Organization from 2015-2017; Leadership Pasco Alumni class 2017; Member of Rotary club of Trinity; and Pasco CAC member since 2016 appointed by Commissioner Starkey at large. The MPO staff is excited to announce that Mr. Cardenas was elected to CAC chair on 1/2/19.
