Foster Program

PCAS offers fostering for animals that meet our foster program criteria. We are almost always in need of fosters for kittens that are too small to be at the shelter as well as animals with special medical needs that need a place to get well.

Interested in becoming a foster?  Complete our online sign up form and a staff member will be in contact with you.
Kitten in Need of Foster

Is the kitten you found abandoned?  Check out our Leave Them Be recommendations.  We would like to keep families together and often is it better for our kittens to grow up with their mother.  Once old enough they can be candidates for our SNIP TNVR program.

Not sure how old your kitten is?  Check out this guide to determine the most likely age.

  2. Dog/Puppy Fostering

Criteria for Foster

Kittens under 2 pounds are not able to be safely sterilized and are at high risk of becoming ill in the shelter as their immune systems are not strong enough to protect them. Kittens/Cats that require foster must meet one or more of the below listed criteria.
  • Be a nursing mother
  • Have a contagious disease (like ringworm) that disqualifies them from the adoption floor.
  • Have serious/severe medical issue(s).
  • Require additional socialization prior to adoption.
  • Weigh in at under 2lbs.

Interested in medical fostering?

Sometimes there are instances of treatable conditions and diseases such as ringworm that need special care that cannot be provided in a shelter environment.  If you are interested in medically fostering this select group of pets please contact us at adoptionpartners@mypasco.net.
