August 24, 2015
The Legislative Delegation was present during today’s meeting. The CAC discussed issues related to, and voted on, moving forward with pursuing a Charter. The vote was 8-7, supporting the motion that a Charter would not be beneficial to Pasco County. Chairman Cox will be presenting the Committee’s findings during the next BCC meeting on September 8th.

May 11, 2015
The CAC held their first meeting at the School Board’s District Office Board Room. Michael Cox was selected as Chairman and Randy Maggard was selected was Vice-Chairman of the Committee. Future schedule and locations were discussed. The Committee agreed to hold their second meeting on June 8th.

March 24, 2015
The BCC unanimously approved the contract with Kurt Spitzer and Associates, Inc., for consulting services to the Charter Advisory Committee in the amount of $60,000.

March 10, 2015
The BCC unanimously approved a resolution to take official action forming a Charter Advisory Panel to study whether or not to form a Charter Government in Pasco County. BCC approved a 15 member panel to study Charter Government. R6/R7 on Agenda. Also approved staff’s recommendation to engage Kurt Spitzer and Associates to handle consulting services for the panel.
February 17, 2015
During the BCC Workshop, the Board agreed to move forward with the ordinance process for charter government formation, and it was agreed that a 15 member Charter Advisory Committee – 10 members selected by the BCC and 5 members selected by the Legislative Delegation – would be created to advise the BCC during this process.

The BCC held an educational workshop on charter government to explore the choices available in establishing a County Charter.

At the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) meeting in Dade City, the issue of developing a Charter Government was discussed. Representative Richard Corcoran spoke in favor of forming and Tax Collector, former State Senator Mike Fasano opposed the issue. BCC did not take action.
