Sharps Program

The "Sharps" program provides Pasco County Residents with information for the proper disposal of their "Sharps": needles, syringes, lancets, tubes and other sharps in a safe manner and prevent needles from entering the waste water collection system and solid waste stream. Needles clog our sewer system and end up at our solid waste and recycling centers putting workers at risk, not to mention they are a threat to public safety.

This program is very simple and the sponsoring hospitals and institutions are easily accessible. The program calls for the participant to go to one of the designated locations and obtain a red "Sharps" container. Once the container is filled, it is sealed and returned to the same location and exchanged for a new one.

Please see below to find a participation location near you.
