FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What are rain sensors and soil moisture sensors?

Rain sensor/soil moisture sensor devices automatically shut off automatic sprinkler systems during and after rain showers and allow the systems to go back to normal cycle when the sensor dries out.  These devices save tremendous amounts of otherwise wasted irrigation water and money!

My rain sensor was installed with my irrigation system.  Do I qualify for a rebate?

No.  This program is intended for those systems that do not already have a rain/soil moisture sensor.

I am a do-it-yourselfer.  Can I install my own rain sensor and still receive the rebate?

No.  To insure that the sensor was installed correctly, this program requires that the sensor be installed by a Pasco County-licensed irrigation contractor.  You may use any Pasco County licensed irrigation contractor.  Call around for the best rates.

My rain sensor is broken.  If I replace it, could I still receive a rebate?

Yes, as long as it is found to be non-functioning and replaced by a Pasco County licensed irrigation contractor.

How long will the rebate program last?

This is a two-year pilot program co-funded by the Southwest Florida Water Management District.  The last rebates will be issued September 2005.

How do I apply for the rebate?

Rebate applications are mailed by request and periodically sent with the Pasco County Utilities billing statement.  Remember, you must be a Pasco County Utilities Water and/or Reuse Water customer to participate in this program.
