Recycling

Pasco County’s “Blue Bag" Curbside Recycling Program is a voluntary program.  Please use a blue bag to collect clean and rinsed recyclable items such as, #1 and #2 plastics, aluminum and bimetal cans, and clear, green and brown glass.  Please remove caps and/or lids.

Blue bags may be purchased at area grocery and department stores.  If assistance is needed in locating blue bags, please contact the Recycling office for the nearest location to you, the numbers are below.

The recyclables are serviced by one of the 9 licensed garbage haulers.  Residents need to sign up for service with one of the garbage haulers below.  If a resident pays the Home Owner’s Association (HOA) for garbage/recycling service, please contact them (the HOA) directly to find out the contracted garbage hauler that services the whole subdivision.

The recyclables will be picked up bi-weekly by the garbage hauler.  The garbage hauler is required by county ordinance to provide a calendar to show the designated collection days for twice a week garbage and bi-weekly recycling service. The recycling day is determined by the hauler and residents should contact them for a calendar.

After the bags are filled with recyclables, place the bags at curbside the night before the designated pick up day.  The blue bags are brought to the Pasco County Material Recovery Facility for processing.  The materials are sorted, baled and sold to markets to be made into new products.  Recycling conserves trees, water and other natural resources by reducing what people throw away, and it returns valuable material to the industry for reuse.
