OPERATIONAL GOALS AND PROGRAMS

The department's 110 employees are responsible for providing maintenance for all County-owned and leased buildings, for providing coordination and supervision for the design and renovation of new and existing buildings, for the acquisition and supervision of various service contracts, and for the custodial care of a large portion of the County's 1,568,193 square footage.

As of September 30, 2004, Facilities Management will maintain 1,568,193 square feet of buildings. This amount represents an 83,853 square foot increase over Fiscal Year 2003. The increase includes the completion of Fire Station 10, the acquisition of 10,334 square foot Fire Station 24 (formerly Dade City), the acquisition of the Main Street Building at 21,157 square feet (formerly All Children's), and the acquisition of the Gulf Harbors Tax Collector's office at 18,000 square feet. New construction projects consist of a 15,723 square foot Sheriff's East Operations Center, an 11,753 square foot joint communications center, an additional 2,000 square feet added to Fire Station 22, and a 2,400 square foot addition to Fire Station 15. Facilities acquired 9,100 square feet of leased warehouse space and disposed of 11,160 square feet of surplus property (trailers and Forest Avenue property).

During Fiscal Year 2005, Facilities Management anticipates the acquisition and completion of approximately 177,772 square feet. Included in the total is the construction of seven new Fire Stations: Station 11 on Embassy, a Magnolia Valley Station, a Ledantec Station, a station in Blanton, a station on Curley Road, a station in Trinity, and a replacement station for Station 23 (SR 54 and US 41). Facilities Management anticipates the completion of a 15,000 square foot new Animal Shelter in Land O'Lakes and 8,000 square foot additions to the Regency Park Library and the Land O'Lakes Library. Included in the additional square footage is a 70,000 square foot addition to the West Pasco Judicial Center and a 22,000 square foot Sheriff's Multi-Purpose Building; both currently in design. Lastly, Facilities Management anticipates the lease of an additional 10,000 square feet of records storage space. The projected grand total of square footage maintained by Facilities by September 30, 2005 will be 1,745,965.
