Communications
DESIRED IMPACT: OPERATIONAL GOALS AND
PROGRAMS: During Fiscal Year 2004, the
Communications Division converted the Dade City Information Technology (IT)
Department from a key system to Public Broadcasting Extensions (PBX). This
change has made the IT operations in Dade City more efficient to all customers
of Pasco County. The Public Defender's Office in New Port Richey was also
converted to PBX. The Tax Collector was converted to an Integrated Voice
Response (IVR) system. The Facility Management's east office was moved to
another location, and their west office had a key-system upgrade. The Call
Detail System, which provides enhanced 911 capabilities to County extensions,
was upgraded to identify the building address and suite number. The Radio Shop
has been diligently repairing radios and paging equipment at the fire stations.
The radio frequency modification and structural tower analysis were completed,
which moved the working radio system to an existing tower and dismantled and
removed another tower. In Fiscal Year 2005, the Communications Division will
continue to strive to reduce the cost of needed and required services to Pasco
County. More fiber optic cable has been requested for extension of the radio
microwave system to the East Pasco Government Center. The Communications
Division plans on replacing the current PBX telephone switch.
