Protecting Your Pets
We are pleased to announce that part of the new Mike Fasano Regional Hurricane Shelter, located at 11611 Denton Avenue in Hudson, has been designated as Pasco County's Pet Friendly Shelter for the 2011 Hurricane Season.

Pet owners need an emergency plan for themselves, their family, and their pets. If you have exhausted all options, Pasco County has a limited amount of space available at the Mike Fasano Regional Hurricane Shelter for dog and cats only. Other types of pets will not be accepted.

Pet owners must stay at the Fasano Shelter. The pet friendly shelter is not a boarding facility. The adult pet owner must be available at all times to care for their pets.

The pet friendly shelter is for citizens that reside in evacuation zone A, B, C, and/or a mobile home.

  • Two pets per residence will be allowed until capacity is reached.
  • Dogs must be at least 4 months old and have a current Pasco County license.
  • Required for dogs: Proof of Rabies, Bordetella, DA2PP vaccinations.
  • Required for cats: Proof of Rabies, FVRCP, FeLV vaccinations.
  • Pets must have no history of aggression.

For further information please contact Pasco County Animal Services at (813) 929-1212, (727) 834-3216, or (352) 521-5194 (press 0 to speak with an operator).

In addition, there are several hotels within the state of Florida that allow pets. To search for a pet-friendly hotel outside an evacuation area, please visit Officialpethotels.com or PetFriendlyTravel.com.
