Pasco County Community Development and Pasco County Planning and Development Encourage All Interested Applicants to Apply for the 2017 Affordable Housing Advisory Committee.

In accordance with Florida Statute, the AHAC must have no less than eight but no more than 11 members. Of these members, at least six of the following areas or industries must be represented:  

  • One citizen who is actively engaged in the residential home building industry in connection with affordable housing;
  • One citizen who is actively engaged in the banking or mortgage banking industry in connection with affordable housing;
  • One citizen who is a representative of those areas of labor actively engaged in home building in connection with affordable housing;  
  • One citizen who is actively engaged as an advocate for low-income persons in connection with affordable housing;
  • One citizen who is actively engaged as a for-profit provider of affordable housing;
  • One citizen who is actively engaged as a real estate professional in connection with affordable housing;
  • One citizen who is actively engaged as a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing;
  • One citizen who represents employers within the jurisdiction;
  • One citizen who represents essential services personnel, as defined in the local housing assistance plan (these include teachers, law enforcement personnel, emergency service and medical personnel, and local government employees); and
  • One citizen who actively serves on the local planning agency pursuant to Section 163.3174, Florida Statutes (the Development Review Committee in Pasco County).

 Other committee members may be citizens of the jurisdiction.

The mission of Community Development is to improve the quality of life and housing conditions of residents through the fair, ethical and honest administration of local, state and federal programs.

Overview

The Pasco County Community Development Department administers the County's neighborhood revitalization, housing and homeless programs utilizing Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP), Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) and Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) funds.

The Department also is the principal government agency for Pasco County for Homeless Programs and administers the Housing Finance Authority.

Annually, we receive approximately $8 million dollars to assist the very low to moderate income citizens of Pasco County. Some of our activities are as follows:

•Developing Public Facilities

•Funding Public Services

•Homebuyer Programs

•Not-for-profit Agency Housing Development 

•Homelessness Prevention and Assistance 

•Homeowner Rehabilitation

•Neighborhood Redevelopment

•Slum and Blight Removal
