Economic Growth Team
The Office of Economic Growth is responsible for the implementation of Pasco’s Economic Development Plan and the administration of the Jobs and Economic Opportunities Trust Fund (Penny for Pasco). This team is also charged with helping to encourage growth in the economy for Pasco County.

Melanie Kendirick - Program Administrator
Melanie Headshot
Melanie is the Program Administrator for the Office of Economic Growth and the Brownfield Manager for Pasco County. Prior to joining Pasco, Melanie has spent over fifteen years working on community and economic development initiatives in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. She has also been involved with voluntary cleanup programs in the State of Ohio, where connecting activities, community development, and creative financing meant job creation for regional residents. In her role with Pasco, Melanie is responsible for the implementation of Pasco’s Economic Development Plan and the administration of the Jobs and Economic Opportunities Trust Fund (Penny for Pasco). This happens through facilitating partnerships between communities, property owners, and businesses to identify and encourage development, and redevelopment.

Thomas Bruno - Business Analyst
Thomas O’Connor Bruno was educated at the University of Central Florida in several disciplines. He was born and raised in Pasco County and attended elementary, middle, and high school in the County. He began work for the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners in September of 2014.

In his spare time, Thomas is a Certified Lego Master Builder.

Peter Lent - Program Adminstrator
Previous to his current position, Peter was the Assistant Executive Director for the Office of Business Development with the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD). Mr. Lent has had a 30 year career in economic development and had been with the DECD for 23 years. Peter was responsible for directing business retention/ expansion project management and the daily activities of the Office’s statewide staff. Prior to working at the DECD, Mr. Lent held economic and community development positions at Science Park in New Haven, the City of Norwich, and the City of New London, Connecticut. Mr. Lent is a 1986 graduate of the University of Connecticut and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. Peter has been part of several award winning project teams including the United States Conference of Mayors Phoenix Award for the North Colony Industrial Park and the State of Connecticut Governor’s Project Team award.

Peter has a successful and diverse background in government administration, public relations/ marketing, communications, business and economic development including international and domestic business development as well as developing strategies and programs to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. He has a proven track record of managing critical projects, contracts, staff, and important issues with aggressive timelines. He is a passionate, effective advocate for business development projects and industry innovation through public and private partnerships. He is able to build effective teams and work as an individual contributor. His creative approach to managing projects led to very successful team efforts fostering economic development that were planned carefully and executed by all partners involved.
