The Graph at right shows the monthly man hours of spraying completed by the Road and Bridge Division.

Maintenance spraying of County-owned roadway rights of way and similar non-drainage-related maintenance activities controls vegetation overgrowth. Ownership is sometimes through easements dedicated to the County although some may be by fee simple deed.  Many of these contracts are supervised by staff in the Stormwater Management Division. Major drainage flow-way and ditch/canal maintenance is contracted to independent firms. This activity helps upstream communities by helping move floodwaters to existing downstream receiving areas, in a manner intended at the time of drainage flow-way construction. Contractors are selected through a rigorous competitive bidding process.
