NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – The Pasco County MPO announces the availability of the Regional Multi-Use Trail Element that includes a map of multi-use trails that are existing, planned/funded, unfunded and conceptual trails that was developed in conjunction with the West Central Florida – MPO Chairs Coordinating Committee (CCC). This regional transportation planning organization includes eight counties in west central Florida with a responsibility to coordinate transportation plans at the regional level.   The primary objectives of the Regional Multi-Use Trail Element includes:
  • Present bicycle movement as a major aspect of regional mobility
  • Present a list of issues and opportunities to be considered by the MPO’s and local governments in developing bicycle/pedestrian plans
  • Encourage cross jurisdiction coordination in the development of trails to promote regional connectivity
  • Highlight the importance and need for funding trails
  • Present consistency in trail design
  • Create a common language for addressing bicycle and pedestrian needs in the region
