Affordable Housing Advisory Committee - Final Hearing to Adopt Recommendations
The Affordable Housing Advisory Committee to Pasco County will hold a public hearing on December 3, 2014, at 8:30 a.m., at the Land O’ Lakes Community Center, Back Building, 5401 Land O’ Lakes Boulevard, Land O’ Lakes, Florida 34639.

The following local housing incentives strategies and recommendations will be considered at the stated time or as soon thereafter as possible:

- Review of Barriers to Affordable Housing and Recommendation of Financial Incentives and Procedural Improvements to Increase Accessibility of Affordable Housing

- Presentation of a Proposed Inclusionary Zoning Strategy to include the completion of an affordable housing nexus study and review of proposed alternatives to create a dedicated affordable housing resource in Pasco County

All interested parties may attend the said public hearing and be heard regarding the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee Strategies and Recommendations.

November 10, 2014 Meeting

The October 27, 2014 meeting of the affordable Housing Advisory Committee was canceled. The next meeting of the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee will be held on November 10, 2014, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am.

We will be discussing the following detailed spreadsheet on the preliminary action strategies to alleviate affordable housing boundaries, and the proposed inclusionary zoning action strategy. In addition, we will be discussing best practices from other jurisdictions that have successful inclusionary zoning policies and ordinances.

November 24, 2014 Meeting

The November 24, 2014 Meeting of the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee will involve the review and approval of the draft local housing incentive plan, as developed through recommendations of the AHAC members. This will be the last meeting of the AHAC prior to the public hearing held on December 3, 2014.

What is the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee?
The Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) meets every three years to discuss policies and procedures related to the availability and affordability of housing in Pasco County. This page contains information on membership application, presentation materials, meeting notes, and recommendations.

Affordable Housing Advisory Committee Application

Pasco County Community Development and Pasco County Planning and Development Encourage All Interested Applicants to Apply for the 2014 Affordable Housing Advisory Committee.

In accordance with Florida Statute, the 11 members of the AHAC must represent the following interest areas or industries: 

  • One citizen who is actively engaged in the residential home building industry in con-nection with affordable housing;
  • One citizen who is actively engaged in the banking or mortgage banking industry in connection with affordable housing;
  • One citizen who is a representative of those areas of labor actively engaged in home building in connection with affordable housing;
  • One citizen who is actively engaged as an advocate for low-income persons in connection with affordable housing;
  • One citizen who is actively engaged as a for-profit provider of affordable housing;
  • One citizen who is actively engaged as a real estate professional in connection with affordable housing;
  • One citizen who is actively engaged as a not-for-profit builder of affordable housing;
  • One citizen who resides within the jurisdiction of the local governing body making the appointments;
  • One citizen who represents employers within the jurisdiction;
  • One citizen who represents essential services personnel, as defined in the local housing assistance plan; and
  • One citizen who actively serves on the local planning agency pursuant to Section 163.3174, Florida Statutes (to be nominated by the County Administrator).
