Solid Waste & Resource Recovery (Landfill)
Responsibilities
The main goals of the Solid Waste and Resource Recovery Department are:
  • To address hazardous waste levels generated in order that citizens and small businesses of Pasco County may dispose of hazardous waste in an environmentally-safe manner and remove such materials from the municipal solid waste stream.

  • To apply industry-acceptable methods of preventable marketable raw materials from entering the waste stream
   Solid Waste Facility
  • To provide an integrated and comprehensive solid waste management system for the citizens of Pasco County.

AS OF 9/19/2017:

SOLID WASTE FACILITIES EXTENDED HOURS TO END SUNDAY SEPT 24T
~~Hours will go back to normal after Sunday, September 24, 2014~~

The Pasco County Solid Waste Department facilities' special hours for storm debris drop off will end Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 4:30p.m. House will return to normal following that date.

Normal hours are 7a.m. to 4:30p.m., Monday through Saturday for both the East Pasco Transfer Station at 9626 Handcart Road, Dade City and the West Pasco Resource Recovery at 14606 Hays Road, Springhill.

Fees for storm debris will continue to be waived until further notice. Items other than storm debris may be charged fees.

The East Pasco Transfer Station can only accept tree limbs and debris of 3-inch diameter and 3 feet in length or less. Larger materials must be taken to the West Pasco Resource Recovery facility.

We strive to reach these goals by:
  • Operating the County's household hazardous waste collection and storage facilities and to manage the state mandated Small Quantity Generators Inspection Program to address business and hazardous waste generators.

  • Providing leadership and direction in the employment of available resources to comply with County policies, County ordinances and state and federal regulations regarding solid waste management.

  • Supervising the Resource Recovery assessment program, the Hazardous Waste program, and the Solid Waste Recycling program; to maintain continued involvement in the operation of the Resource Recovery Facility and associated landfill expansion and development; and to oversee capital projects as funded by bond issues.
