Motor Oil Recycling

In the United States, car owners who do their own oil changes generate an estimated 400 million gallons of used motor oil annually. In Florida, more than 7 million gallons of used motor oil end up in our trash, soils and in storm water run off.

Pasco County's Motor Oil Recycling Program is designed to provide "Do-It-Your-Self"-ers with a means to properly dispose of their used motor oil.

It is unlawful to toss motor oil in the trash, dump it on the ground, in sewer systems, septic tanks, or any surface water. It is also illegal to use motor oil to kill weeds.

his program is provided free of charge.

Why Recycle Motor Oil?
Most of our drinking water comes from the Florida Aquifer. One of the major threats to our shallow aquifer is from the illegal dumping of used oil.

An average of 15,000 to 17,000 gallons of used motor oil is recycled in the County annually.
