Cold Weather Shelter Fact Sheet
Overview
  • The Cold Weather Shelter Program for Pasco County is a community effort that includes area churches; non-profit agencies like the United Way, the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross; the Homeless Coalition; social-service organizations; the Pasco County Office of Emergency Management; the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office; and Pasco County Public Transportation.
  • Cold weather shelters are sustained and operated by non-profit and religious organizations.
  • Cold weather shelters open if there is a risk of temperatures dropping below 36°F, with or without wind chill, for a period of four hours or more.
  • Depending on available funds and donations – food, drinks and blankets will be provided at cold weather shelters.
  • Depending on the areas of impact- not all cold weather shelters open.
  • Normally, cold weather shelters open by 6:00 pm.
  • Not all cold weather shelters take families, but all families in need will be provided shelter.

There are six cold weather shelters in Pasco County; five are located on the west side of the county and one is located in Zephyrhills.
