It is recommended that
the following be given formal consideration by the Board of County
Commissioners.
DESCRIPTION
AND CONDITIONS:
Please find attached for first public hearing
the proposed One-Cent Local Option Motor Fuel Tax Ordinance. On
The revenue generated is required to be shared
with the municipalities. Florida
Statutes section 336.025(1)(b) provides that the
moneys received may be used only for “transportation expenditures needed to
meet the requirements of the capital improvements element of an adopted
comprehensive plan. Expenditures for
purposes of this paragraph shall not include routine maintenance of roads.”
Pursuant
to the Board’s direction, the ordinance has been revised in the “Exclusive
purposes for use” section to provide that the revenues shall be used for
advance right-of-way acquisition and other transportation expenditures needed
to meet the requirements of the capital improvement elements of the
Comprehensive Plan adopted by Pasco County as authorized by Florida Statutes
section 336.025(1)(b)3.
ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS:
1.
Accept the attached proposed One-Cent
Local Option Motor Fuel Tax Ordinance.
2.
Direct revisions to the attached One-Cent
Local Option Motor Fuel Tax Ordinance.
RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING:
The Office of the County
Attorney recommends that the Board of County Commissioners accept the attached
proposed One-Cent Local Option Motor Fuel Tax Ordinance, listen to public
comment and continue the public hearing until a final hearing on this ordinance
scheduled for June 18, 2002, at 9:30 a.m. at the Historic Pasco County
Courthouse, 37918 Meridian Avenue, Board Room, Dade City, Florida. At the
