DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS:
On February 26, 2002, the Board authorized staff to do a presentation to introduce an amendment of Ordinance Nos. 79-28 and 01-012, as subsequently amended, to allow the expansion of the Municipal Fire Service Unit (MFSU) boundaries to include the area currently serviced by the Land O' Lakes Volunteer Fire Department.
On March 5, 2002, the Board approved the introduction for the amendment of Ordinance Nos. 79-28 and 01-012, as subsequently amended, to allow the expansion of MFSU boundaries to include the area currently serviced by the Land O' Lakes Volunteer Fire Department.
Please find attached for your consideration the proposed amendment to MFSU Ordinance Nos. 79-28 and 01-012, as subsequently amended. This ordinance would amend the current MFSU ordinance to include that area currently being protected by the Land O' Lakes Volunteer Fire Department according to the map and legal description as described in Exhibits A (legal description) and Exhibit B (map).
The proposed ordinance has undergone extensive County staff review and has been requested by the Land O' Lakes Volunteer Fire Department members and its Board of Directors to provide fire protection services to this area.
In addition, we will need to hire a total of ten personnel on July 1 of this year to ensure that they have completed their orientation training, medical physicals, background checks, and have been issued all related protective clothing prior to the established effective date for service of October 1, 2002.
ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS:
The Board is requested to consider the following alternatives:
