About Us
The Survey Division:

  • Collects field data for the design of roads, utility projects, drainage studies, and unique situations
  • Prepares legal descriptions for property to be acquired by the County
  • Processes subdivision plats for recording
  • Provides County departments with drawings and information regarding land boundaries and assists the public with questions concerning surveys and land information
  • Reviews legal documents and sketches for closure and completeness
  • Reviews right of way maps for the right of way acquisition

The division is also responsible for staking property for public works projects, condemnation, court proceedings, right of way parcels for appraisals, and special projects. They also process GPS data for the utilities and stormwater divisions. This division is currently responsible for historic aerials.

Our goal is to continue to work with developers, engineers and surveyors to record plats. We strive to work with CIP consultants to review their right of way maps, legal and sketches and to work with utilities to establish an accurate street light and asset database. Finally, we continue to provide survey services to other divisions and departments.

Survey Division establishes and maintains the central database on right-of-ways. Survey Division creates and reviews right-of-way maps which results in the improvement of infrastructure. Survey Division compiles right-of-way information assuring that other Departments can install assets within County Property. Survey Division initiates the process of Maintained right-of-way mapping that brings under control of the Board of County Commissioners property (Roads) that the county has maintained but does not own the fee to, which results in additional legal rights-of-way filed in accordance with Florida Statute 471.
