Does the recycle logo mean an item is recyclable? What does the number in the logo mean?
Sometimes. The recycle logo means either that an item can be recycled or that it is made with recycled materials. The number in the logo refers to the quality of the polymer used to make the item. The lower the number, the higher the quality. Therefore #1 and #2 plastic is made from the highest quality polymer. It also is the most marketable plastic. However, #3 - #7 are also marketable.
