Pasco County now accepts paper and cardboard in curbside recycling

PASCO COUNTY, FL ---- Pasco County’s curbside recycling effort is expanding by now accepting newspaper, cardboard and other mixed paper to the eligible materials for residential curbside recycling. The change took place this week and licensed private haulers are now accepting the recycled materials in curbside recycling bins.

“We hope to reduce the amount of paper and cardboard waste in our trash stream and shift it over to our recycling stream,” said Jennifer Seney, Recycling Supervisor. “It will help our recycling rate and extend the timeframe for adding a fourth burner to our Waste-to-Energy, saving taxpayers money in the long run.”

Pasco citizens who have twice-a-week trash service are already paying for recycling service. It’s just a matter of using the service. Paper and cardboard can be put in the same container with other recyclables.

If a citizen would like to know their recycling schedule, they can call their trash hauler. The haulers also have the required sticker to go on the recycling containers. The county has stickers, as well.

Pasco does not accept plastic bags or film in the recycling stream.
