On October 2, 2013, FEMA advised that the Comment and Appeal Period (PDF) for the new DFIRMs would begin on October 16, 2013 and end on January 14, 2014. The period ended with only comments being received.
On March 26, 2014, FEMA issued the Letter of Final Determination (PDF) (LFD) for unincorporated Pasco County and the municipalities. The LFD advised the County that prior to September 26, 2014, as a condition of continued eligibility in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), the County must adopt or update their floodplain management regulations to comply with the standards of the NFIP regulations. The mandatory revisions to the County ordinances were adopted on August 19, 2014 and the new, modern Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRMs) will become effective on September 26, 2014.
